Abstract
Cognitive intelligence is often used as a benchmark of success. However, there is evident that individual success is not only caused by cognitive intelligence but also influenced by emotional intelligence. The importance of emotional intelligence makes the researchers wanted to know whether there is any relationship between the emotional intelligence with self-esteem and authoritative parenting. Data retrieval in the form of a questionnaire with a total of 84 items and sample of 95 late adolescence with age range 17-20 years. Data analysis using Pearson product moment correlation test with a two tailed test. Results of the study showed a negative relationship between the emotional intelligence and self-esteem with r=-0,496 significance and value of 0,000, also found out a negative relationship between self-esteem and authoritative parenting with r=- 0,233 significance and value of 0,023. Result shows no relationship between the emotional intelligence and authoritative parenting, it is showed from the value r=0,184 and significance of 0,074. The conclusion is there is relationship between emotional intelligence and self-esteem, as well as the existence of a relationship between self esteem and authoritative parenting. Individuals are aware of the importance of developing emotional intelligence and parents are expected to prioritize relationships with their children
