Abstract
The readiness to change is a comprehensive attitude that is simultaneously influenced by the content, process, context, and individuals who involved in a change. The changes made by the company can provide whether positive or negative impact on employees. The employees who are able to accept the changes, can help the productivity and efficiency of the company/organization. The employees who are unable to accept the changes, will give up and even run away from the changes. The readiness to change is influenced by various factors, such as work discipline and adversity quotient. This study aims to determine the effect of work discipline and adversity quotient on the readiness to change in X, Y, Z companies in Surabaya. This research uses quantitative methods that the data were collected by using questionnaires. The subjects in this research are 83 active employees of X, Y, Z companies. X company is engaged in cooperatives. Y company is engaged in medical. Z company is engaged in information engineering. This study uses accidental sampling. The data were collected using the scale of work discipline, adversity quotient scale, the scale of readiness to change. The reliability value of the readiness scales for change, work discipline, and adversity quotient are respectively 0.817; 0.663; 0.806. The result showed that work discipline had an effect on the readiness to change by 97,8%, adversity quotient influence to readiness to change equal to 33,6%, and there is no correlation betweenf work discipline with adversity quotient because the value of significance obtained the 0,419 (p> 0, 05). Work discipline and adversity quotient are simultaneously affect readiness to change but work disciplines have a greater effect on readiness to change. This research is expected to be useful for companies in order to improve work discipline with preventive discipline techniques, employees are able to be more disciplined and wiser in making problem solving decisions on changes that occur
