HUBUNGAN ETOS KERJA DAN MOTIVASI KERJA DENGAN KETERIKATAN KERJA KARYAWAN GEREJA X WILAYAH SURABAYA
Abstract
In any workplace, a employee must work properly and in accordance with the rules,
including working in a church organization. In working in a church organization,
employees not only work for jobdesk, but also a service for God. Schaufeli (2002)
states work Engagement has three characteristics : vigor, dedication, and
absorption. Miller, et al (2002) stated that work ethics is divided into seven aspects:
Self-Reliance, Morality or Ethics, Leisure, Work Hard, centrality of work), wasted
time and delay of gratification. Herzberg in Robbins (2008) states that work
motivation is influenced by Motivators Factor and Hygiene Factor. Results of the
first hypothesis test between work ethic and work Engagement obtained correlation
coefficient of 0.363 (p < 0,05), with effective contribution is 12.3%. Result of second
hypothesis test between work motivation and work Engagement obtained coefficient
number equal to 0,281 (p < 0,05), with effective contribution is 7.8%. Result of third
hypothesis test between work ethic and work motivation got coefficient value equal
to 0,802 (p < 0,05), with effective contribution is 60.9%. It is recommended that
employee of Church X Surabaya can improve work Engagement through improving
work ethic and work motivation. Church X Surabaya can also be more selective in
recruiting employees or pastors, so that recruited employees or pastors can work
well and have work attachments. The conclusion of this essay is that there is a
significant correlation between work ethic and work motivation with the work
engagement of Church’s employees X Surabaya
