Abstract
Career maturity is an important element in a person’s career growth to achieve success in a career. This research was made to determine the effect of self concept and authoritative parenting to the career maturity of students in Surabaya. The study used a questionnaire consisting of three variable, namely career maturity, self concept and authoritative parenting. The subjects of this study is student aged 20 – 30 years (early adulthood) in Surabaya. The sampling technique in this study was purposive sampling. The result showed that self concept has an influence on career maturity of 57,6% with a significance of p = 0,000. Authoritative parenting has an influence on career maturity of 41,4% with a significance of p = 0,003. The self concept and authpritative parenting have a significant simultaneous effect of 59,6% on career maturity. Based on the result of the study, students in Surabaya have good career maturity. The conclusion in this study there is the influence of self concept and authoritative parenting on the career maturity of student in Surabaya. Advice for students is to maintain or enhance positie self concept and continue to improve their abilities in order to achieve better career maturity. Advice for parents is to apply authoritative parenting so children can reach good career maturity
