Abstract
The elderly have the ability to adapt or adjust to their new environment. Through the environment, humans can develop their potential, abilities and attributes. This also happens among the elderly who live in nursing homes. This study aims to determine the adjustment of the elderly who live in nursing homes X. The research subjects are two elderly people who are still active, and able to communicate well. The study uses a qualitative approach with the case study method. This study uses interviews and observations as a data collection method. Data were analyzed thematically to find a number of themes that emerged from the process of data collection so as to find an understanding of how an elderly person adjusts to the environment in a nursing home. This research found that the elderly who live in nursing home X can adjust well. Both research subjects can adjust to both aspects of personal adjustment, and aspects of social adjustment. This research is expected to benefit the elderly who will live in nursing homes so that they can adjust well.
