Abstract
Students' achievement has a significant relationship with teachers’ ability to manage the classroom which could be increased by training. The general purpose of this researchis to know the effectiveness of training in increasing classroom management skills of teachers in SMP Kr. Masa Depan Cerah (MDC) Surabaya. Specific purpose of this research is to compose acceptable classroom management training program. Method used in this research is pre-test post-test non equivalent groups design. Classroom management contains how to manage physical aspects of classroom, create positive class environment, be a good communicator, and deal with negative behaviors in classroom. Design of the training is measured by acceptability test and evaluation sheets. Effectiveness of the training is measured by using checklist as the main instrument and questionnaire in addition. Subjects of this research are seven teachers which consisted of three new full-time teachers and four part-time teachers. Acceptability test of the training design scores 83,84% and evaluation sheets scores 3,28 from maximum score of four. This result shows hypothesis which design of the training is acceptable. The result of the observation proves training effectiveness in increasing teachers’ classroom management skills (p<0,05). Implication of this research shows that classroom management training can be used to increase classroom management skills of teachers in SMP Kr. MDC.
