Servant leadership is an interesting study topic that is widely studied after Rober Greenleaf stated about servant leadership in 1970. Since then, quantitative and qualitative studies had been done earlier to examine the concept of servant leadership and its effect to employee’s satisfaction, motivation, performance, and any other parameters, either in non-profit organization or for-profit organization. The thesis is a case study on principal’s servant leadership style at East Surabaya Christian High School. The objectives of this study are to find how servant leadership is exhibited by the principal, how teachers perceive it, and how the servant leadership influence teachers. East Surabaya Christian High School is choosen as study object because of its uniqueness being a Christian non-profit school that emphasize on Christian value and the characteristics of the school principal. Data were gathered from 14 (fourteen) full-time teachers, 1 (one) part-time teacher, and 2 (two) vice principals using guided depth interviewed and analyzed with content analysis method. Using Liden et al.’s servant leadership dimensions, teachers assessed their principal’s servant leadership style. Teachers, as the informants of this study, perceive well the principal’s servant leadership style at school, even though there are some points that they do not have a same concept on servant leadership, such as empowering and putting followers first. Generally, teachers receive well the principal’s leadership style and make they want to imitate principal’s servant leadership style and that makes them want to give the best in their work. They tend to imitate and are motivated by the principal. That is how this servant leadership style may escalate the followers’ performance, organizational performance, and societal impact.en_US
