PEMBUATAN SMS GATEWAY UNTUK KEGIATAN VOTING

Abstract

Election using voting method, is often still done manually, that is voter come to election place, select their candidate, and last they put ballot into ballot box. After all ballot are collected, the committee will count the ballot in traditional way too. They will count every ballot one by one. Looking at the current development of technology, the process of selecting actually can be done faster, easier, and safer, is by using SMS Gateway technology. By utilizing SMS Gateway, voter can put his vote anywhere and anytime as long as voters have a cell phone. Voters can simply send a SMS with format and destination number that have been determined by committee of election. There is many benefits to committee and for voters. Benefits for committee are they will not spend much money to buy equipment to support the election process like stationery (ink, pen, paper), procuring the ballot, rent a building, making voting booths and ballot boxes, and so on. In addition, the committee also will save time in doing calculation, because the calculation is no longer done manually but is done automatically by the system is already computerized. In connection with the counting process, another advantage gained by the committee is minimize human error in checking whether the vote is valid or not. While the benefits for voter is saving time because voters do not need to allocate their time to come to the polls in order to enter their vote. In addition, to minimize the occurrence of invalid ballots because of voter error in doing the election. Clearly seen that by utilizing the SMS Gateway technology, the selection process conducted by voting will be very easy, fast and efficient. The advantage not only just obtained by the committee but also obtained by the voters.
