Abstract
The aim of this research is to explore the differences on English vocabulary mastering based on the learning method of Taman Kanak-Kanak Mangkunegoro Surabaya. This research uses two groups pre-test post-test design. The participants are 52 preschoolers between four and six years old from Taman Kanak-Kanak Mangkunegoro Surabaya. Participants are divided into two groups and get different treatments. Experimental group A get conventional learning method, while experimental group B get non-conventional learning method, which is educational television program Dora The Explorer as their treatment. Participants get both pre-test and post-test that are given in the form of oral question. Reliability is measured with Kendall-W coefficient of concordance and has 0,004 significant value (p<0,05). Post-test result is analyzed using parametric method of Independent Sample T-Test for SPSS 16. The result shows that there is a significant difference between two treatment groups (p≤0,01). Participants who get conventional learning method have higher level of English vocabulary mastering (μ=4.4746) than participants who get educational television program Dora The Explorer (μ=2.0131). Different level of repetition and error while giving the treatment influence the result of this research.
