Abstract
Effective classroom management is important for creating student and teacher cooperation to establish conduciveness atmosphere for the students Noisy and illicit talk, inappropriate movement, inappropriate use of materials, damage to materials or equipment, taking something without permission, physical aggression to other, defiance of teacher and refusal to move are eight types of student’s misbehavior. Physical environment management, learning management, determining classroom’s procedures and regulations also discipline management are four major components to establish effective classroom management. Token economy is a strategy to manage classroom based on behavioral approach, by employing reinforcement to decrease appropriate behavior and reduce misbehavior. Quasi-experimental method is used to implement token economy as treatment. Effectiveness of token economy is analyzed using T-test between against classroom management and misbehavior. Result has shown that token economy effective to reduce noisy and illicit talk, inappropriate movement and physical aggression to other. Token economy method only gives low impact to classroom management. Important finding in this study is behavioral approach to manage the classroom requires full control of the teacher especially with student in young age.
