dc.description.abstractFood is a basic need/human subject, where fulfillment is a fundamental right of every human being, including Indonesia. Food safety including agricultural products now become the trend of the world and a key demand of consumers. Food security is a condition itself and effort needed to prevent food from possible contamination, of biological, chemical, physical and other objects harm and endanger human health. Developing transgenic crops in Indonesia through biotechnology processes with legal basis and patents in particular legislation PVT. Biotechnology is expected to play a role in achieving food security in developing countries. Utilization of biotechnology should also consider the positive and negative effects. The role of Genetically Modified crops in food security challenges in the form of weak control of seed technology, agreement on IPR, guarantee food security, and to convince government and NGOs about the value of biotechnology.en_US
