PERBEDAAN PERSEPSI MAHASISWA AKUNTANSI INDONESIA DAN SINGAPURA MENGENAI KETERAMPILAN AKUNTANSI DAN BAHASA INGGRIS DALAM MENGHADAPI MASYARAKAT EKONOMI ASEAN
Abstract
The process of integration and competition caused by globalization led
Southeast Asian countries decided to establish regional cooperation, known as
ASEAN. ASEAN makes an agreement to form AEC in 2015 to improve global
competence in order to compete with other countries. Jobs requiring high skills
like accounting profession will be challenges in the era of the AEC. Students must
have sufficient skills to compete in the era of AEC. The aim of this research is to
examine the differences in the perception of accounting students in Indonesia and
Singapore regarding accounting and English language skills in the AEC.
This research is a quantitative research. Data collection methods used is
literature study, questionnaires and interviews. Analyses are performing using
Independent T-Test. The populations in this research are all students in East Java
and Singapore. The samples used are students in Surabaya, Malang and
Singapore who have already taken most of the accounting subjects. The results
show that there is no difference in the perception of students in Indonesia and
Singapore regarding accounting skills, while there is a difference regarding
English language skills.
