A multi-ethnical marriage is a marriage that involves two different cultures or more from either the husband or the wife. In a multi-ethnical marriage, the couple need to adjust in their marriage life. This qualitative research focuses on a married couple, Dani, who is Javanese and Lani, who is Chinese. They have been married for four years. The purpose of this research is to identify the adjustment process of couples with different ethnical backgrounds in the marriage life. This research uses a case study method. Semi-structured interviews and participative observation methods are used as the data aggregation method. The results of this research represent that the married couple’s adjustment is hampered by the ethnocentric attitude that rises from each individual. The married couple also experienced difficulties in financial adjustments in the core family, and adjusting to the tradition and norms of the extreme family of the partner. Couples with different ethnicities who are getting married can learn the cultural values of their partners in order to minimize conflict in marriage. The effort made by the married couple in resolving conflicts is by maintaining their marriage vow, maintaining communication, and maintaining their spiritual life in marriage.en_US
